Explanation of Flop
The term “flop” refers to the three community cards that are dealt as well as being the name assigned to the second round of betting in Hold’em and Omaha variants (the first betting round being referred to as “preflop”).
Example of Flop used in a sentence -> We cold-called preflop and the flop came down King, Seven, Four, all of hearts.
How to Use Flop as Part of Your Poker Strategy
Good play on the flop requires players to think ahead regarding how their hand will play on the later streets. Good improvement potential is one of the key criteria for deciding whether a hand should continue past the flop in order to see a turn. Hands without any semblance of potential or backdoor equity should often be folded on the flop barring a specific read on our opponents.
